On the call of party co-chairman Bilawal Zardari, Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) activists on Friday organised a protest camp against the federal government for excessive and unscheduled power outage across the province. The PPP activists and supporters set-up a protest camp on main Sher Shah Suri road, outside Peshawar Press Club, against the Pesco for 12 to 18 hours a day power outage.

The protesters raised slogans against the federal government, Wapda, Pesco and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and demanded an immediate end to unscheduled power load-shedding, a drastic curtailment in the approved load-shedding regime. PPP senior leaders include former federal minister Arbab Alamgir, former MNA Asma Alamgir, former provincial minister Liaqat Shabab, Malik Saeed and Adil Shah were carrying placards inscribed with slogans against the federal government, and Pesco management for power outage, led the protest camp.

In their speeches, PPP leaders criticised the federal government's attitude towards power producing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and said it had forced the PPP to raise its voice. They said the unfair treatment being meted out to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa people had brought unbearable miseries to them.
